Bugle the Baby Elephant

Bugle the Baby Elephant

Bugle the Baby Elephant, design by Susan Claudino

This was a super enjoyable knit! I suspect he might be only the first of a whole herd… ;)

The yarn I used is Manos del Uruguay Maxima in Rocky Road.

Monos Locos Socks (Countess Ablaze yarn)

Monos Locos

I’m knitting a heavily modified version of the Los Monos Locos socks (a toe-up version of Cookie A’s Monkeys), using Lady Persephone yarn hand dyed by Countess Ablaze. The colourway is Baked! Taste the Lotus and Forget the Way Home.

(Sadly, the photo doesn’t do justice at all to the amazingly deep, rich and vibrant colours.)

Being Human Stripey Socks

Housemates Socks (Redemptive Love)

Housemates Socks

This is the beginning of my Housemates Socks, knit out of a self-striping yarn I dyed in honour of the Being Human series finale. Very bittersweet, because I absolutely love that show to bits… I’m calling this colourway ‘Redemptive Love’, and if you watched the final episode, you’ll know why…

Purple + Teal

Purple + Teal

Purple + Teal

I was knitting on a shawl, but I ran out of yarn before it was finished… One of the options I considered was to do the bind off in a different colour. In the end I chose a different solution, but I still think these two colours look amazing together :)

Knits, Purls and Twists of 2013

Handspun yarn: Malabrigo Nube Cereza

New-to-me in 2013: spindle spinning :)

In my post Knits and Purls of 2012 from around this time last year I wrote a 2012 knitting retrospective of sorts, with lists of things that I had tried or learnt. I’m really happy I did, because it was so much fun going back and reading that post today :)

The following post is for my future self, who hopefully will be equally happy reading this in a year or two..!

The Yarn I Won! :)

Malabrigo Lace

Malabrigo Lace

Here’s the prize I won in the Malabrigo Stockpile 2013 competition, that I mentioned earlier :)

Malabrigo Lace in the colourways Lavanda (semi-solid purple) and Archangel — I think they’re gorgeous :) I’ve used Malabrigo Lace before, and I love it, so I’m very very happy!

I haven’t yet decided what I’ll use them for. A stripey shawl perhaps, something like Dream Stripes? Or maybe I’ll design something new… we’ll see.

What would you make, if these two skeins were yours?
