Byzantium Dreams, Done!

Sweet Dreams in Gothic Byzantium

Byzantium Dreams

My first Sweet Dreams shawl is finished, yay!

I absolutely love this design, this pattern, and I will most definitely knit more of these :) Looks great, very enjoyable to knit, perfect size and shape, and in this particular yarn it’s soo snuggly and looked lovely even before it was blocked..!

I’m very happy with the mods I made (see details below), and would do the same next time. Next time I would probably use much fewer beads though, and place the beads a bit differently (especially the chart c/border ones).

The Pick A Boo! Knitalong continues until the end of August, and I will keep working on my other half-finished Boo shawls :)

More pictures below the cut..!

Pick A Boo! Knitalong: Byzantium Dreams

Byzantium Dreams

Sweet Dreams in Gothic Byzantium

Here’s yet another shawl for the Pick A Boo! Knitalong :)

I’ve been on an involuntary break for a few weeks, and am now trying to carefully ease back into it. The other half-finished knitalong shawls are too demanding for me at the moment (slippery super-thin yarn, intricate lace patterns, beads, slithery silk etc), so the obvious solution was – of course! – to cast on a new one ;)

The first Sweet Dreams shawl will eventually be gifted to my mum, so I decided to make another Sweet Dreams for myself. I wasn’t 100% happy with the colour of the first shawl (very pretty, but not exactly like I had imagined it), so I dyed this skein a bit differently. This yarn is such a joy to work with, yum! And it’s best friends with Addi Naturals (bamboo) circular needles :)

A Soulful Attunement

Mooji

Mooji

“When attention is redirected to the heart of Being, a recognition occurs there; a soulful attunement. The end of a dreamt separation is felt – we find ourselves whole again; a wholeness that shines as peace, joy, wisdom and love. Life flows, like a river of light.”

Hand Dyed: Gothic Byzantium

Semi-Solid Gothic Byzantium

Gothic Byzantium

More yarn out of the dyepot! I was aiming for a dark, subdued, somber, semi-solid purple colour this time; having the shawl design Sweet Dreams by Boo Knits in mind. Perhaps you remember Mishtik, the silk yarn that I dyed a while back; this one is along the very same lines, a second attempt at dyeing that gorgeously gothic and vampire-esq colourway that has kept lingering temptingly in the back of my mind…
