“Pick A Boo!” Knitalong, Week 4

Sweet Dreams shawl

Sweet Dreams shawl

Here’s my progress so far on my Sweet Dreams shawl! The picture doesn’t do it justice at all, so please use your imagination :)

This is my third shawl for the Pick A Boo! Knitalong, hosted by Sarah of Crafts from the Cwtch. The first one (Rainshine) is finished, and while I was waiting for the beads for the second one (Fragile Heart), I started this one.

I had never worked with 100% silk yarn before, so this was very exciting and a great learning experience!

Raspberry Rainshine, Finished!

Raspberry Rainshine

Rainshine, blocked!

My Rainshine shawl is finished!

All in all, I’m super happy with this project! Lovely design and great pattern, would definitely recommend it to others. The yarn I chose worked really well with this design, it’s very soft and super easy to wear, such a happy colour and has the perfect amount of sparkle, and the finished shawl is the perfect size for me :)

Fragile Heart Shawl

Reddest Stolen Cherries

Reddest Stolen Cherries

i’ve dyed the yarn for my Fragile Heart now! i went for a deep, rich, semi-solid cherry red with fuchsia undertones (to symbolize the fragility, and the light shining out from within through the cracks). it’s laceweight baby alpaca, silk & cashmere = fantastic drape, kitten belly soft and absolutely delicious :)

Immortal Heart

Immortal Heart

Look what I conjured out of my dyepot today! It’s a big ball of cherry red yarn with fuchsia undertones :) The picture sadly doesn’t do it justice at all, but it’s the best I can do right now. Use your imagination, please!

This colour makes me think of vampires, passion and love… so I’m thinking “Immortal Heart” would be a good name :) I dyed it with a particular project in mind, a vampire inspired shawl of my own design, and I can’t wait to get it on my needles..!

You might have seen this skein before, but not like this :)

I had something very specific in mind for my next project, a lace shawl, but I didn’t have any suitable yarn in my stash. Instead of buying something new, I decided to “sacrifice” one of the two skeins from my very first dyeing project. So, this is what the skein looks like today, overdyed :) Semi-solid cherry red with fuchsia undertones.

Here’s some more overdyed yarn! The colour is soo amazing in real life, but sadly it seems impossible to capture on camera… this picture was the best I could manage this time, it gives you at least a rough idea.

The inspiration for this yarn is the colours of the seas in Thailand and Malaysia :) Deep sky blue, azure-cyan… Semi-solid as usual, since it’s my favourite kind!

More Raspberry Rainshine

Raspberry Rainshine

Raspberry Rainshine

Here’s what my Rainshine shawl looks right now! The picture really doesn’t do it justice, because the lace obviously needs to be blocked (first soaked in water and then stretched out with the help of wires and pins and left to dry) to open up. You can see it a bit better in the other picture below.
