Noro Halflings

Camp Out Mitts

Here are the finished halflings (fingerless mitts) that I wrote about in the previous post. I’m very happy with how they turned out, and I’ll definitely use this pattern again, with the same modifications :)

Yarn: Noro Silk Garden #326, 50 g/100 m
Pattern: Camp Out Fingerless Mitts by Tante Ehm
Mods: Longer garter rib section at the top, wider across the palm/back of the hand, wider and longer thumb gusset, added garter stitch cuff.

And for those wondering: No, there actually weren’t any sections of dirty yellow in this particular skein :) No “editing” necessary, yay! And only one knot/join/colour break.

Enthu and Tiresomeness

I was feeling immensely enthusiastic about these fingerless mitts yesterday :)

Today, however… not so much. I love how the design looks (Camp Out Fingerless Mitts by Tante Ehm) and I adore this yarn (Noro Silk Garden #326), but somehow no matter how I try and modify the details these mitts just won’t fit my hand :(

I’ve been ripping back countless times already, and tried so many different adjustments… What felt like boundless enthu yesterday is now quickly fading… So tiresome :( I’ll put them aside for now and try again another day. *sigh*

ETA: One day and loads of mods later, the enthusiasm is back! I’m finally happy with how it fits, and I’ve started on the second mitt now :)

Here’s some more knitting related updates! First off, I’ve designed a pair of fingerless mitts (‘halflings’) inspired by Quiraing, Isle of Skye. I’m overjoyed and so chuffed with how they turned out :) I’ll write a separate post about that later, as I don’t have any proper pictures yet. Yes yes, it’s my wanderlust speaking. Fernweh extraordinaire
